If you find yourself thinking your Mercedes SL just ain’t the bees knees anymore, Carlsson can help you. The German tweaker of all things Benz has announced the CK50, a performance package that includes a 5.5-liter eight pot that dumps 435 horses (more than 50 over the stock SL 550’s 382 hp) and 442 lb-ft of torque on the rear wheels. Along with the extra power, the CK50 sports an intelligent suspension that alters the ride height according to road conditions as you bound down the autobahn. The special springs can drop the car about an inch. Along with the performance do-dads, the former SL also gets a body kit treatment that includes a polished stainless grille, carbon fiber front spoiler lip and a rear apron diffuser. The company also includes their 1/16 ultra-light wheels in up to 20 inches. Of course, if you find the CK50 a bit too pedestrian in today’s horsepower war-filled days, Carlsson has no problem mentioning that a CK65 version is also available with more than 700 ponies. Hold on to your bratwursts.
