Design studies are a dime per dozen. However, some have teeth. Or in this case, venomous fangs. You’re looking at Jamie Martin’s reconceptualiztion of the AC Shelby Cobra. He’s calling it the Cobra Venom V8 and as you may have guessed, it’s got a V8 under that slick, Morgan meets BMW Z3 meets GT40 skin. Specifically, a supercharged Ford 4.6-liter developing 524 hp and 420 lb-ft of twist. Combine that motor with a light aluminum and carbon fiber chassis and 0-60 mph happens in a word class 3.4 seconds. Top speed is in the 214 mph neighborhood. Meaning this guy’s Enzo fast. Mr. Martin wants either a Tremec 6-speed or a paddle-shifting slusher to motivate the rear wheels. For us, the clincher is the relatively small wheels: just 17 inches. Talk about old school. Again, it’s just a design, but we could really see bombing the Santa Monica canyons in one of these. No really, imagine that.
