Autofiends will be hanging at the Home Depot Center in Carson, CA, home to Mr Beckham and the LA Galaxy this weekend for the 2008 Summer X Games. While we’re not necessarily big fans of skate and BMX, we do dig high horsepower all wheel drive rally cars flying through the air and that’s why we’re here—for the third annual X Games Rally Race. Top Gear’s Tanner Foust will be defending his crown after taking the Gold last year in his Rockstar Energy Drink Subaru STI. He’s joined by a new team mate for the event—Canadian rally champion Antoine L’Estage in another black and yellow Impreza. Gunning hard for Tanner will be backflipper extraordinaire, Travis Pastrana representing Red Bull and Subaru Rally Team USA, along with Monster sponsored team mate and shoe maker to the skaters, Ken Block. The SRTUSA pair are campaigning 2008 STIs, still in development according to an insider. Also running a 2008 STI prepped by Vermont Sportscar is 2004 Production World Rally Champion, Niall McShea, who could potentially be this year’s spoiler judging by the way he was throwing his Subie around. Mitsubishi is represented solely by Rally America front-runner and part time attorney, Andrew Comrie-Picard. He completes the big battle of the energy drinks with sponsorship by NOS. It seems that rally is the new hot ticket for action sports stars with BMX hero Dave Mirra and freestyle MX bronco-boy, Kenny “Cowboy” Bartram getting in on the, err, action.
