nissan 02 Nissan Claims Another Record Lap At Nurburgring With Fuel Cell Vehicle

While not quite as groundshaking as their 7:29 lap in the GT-R, Nissan has claimed another record at the infamous Nordschleife. This time, however, its not quite as exciting–the record was set in a Fuel Cell Vehicle with an FCV version of the Nissan X-Trail mini people mover. Frank Eickholt, driver for Nissan’s Nurburgring 24 Hour race team spanked the X-Trail around the “Green Hell” in a couple of ticks under 12 minutes: 11:58 to claim a green record for a zero emission lap of Nurburgring. Frank described the lap as one of the hardest he’d ever driven–well actually he didn’t, though he did have to be woken up at the end of it, well actually he didn’t, for real. Fortunately we don’t have a video, and if we did, we’d suggest playing it while taking a break for a coffee. The only upside is that it may be one of the most expensive cars to set a record with a cost of 1.3 million Euros. [nihoncars]
