panamera Porsche Shows Specs on Portly Panamera

I’ll admit that I was one of the first to scoff when Porsche jumped head first into the SUV market, but in light of the Cayenne’s success, it’s obvious I underestimated the company’s ability to predict consumers. The question now is whether or not the Panamera – Porsche’s first ever sedan — will fare as well as its brawny brother. It’s clear from specs just released by the company that the four-door will stay true to the essence of Porsche, meaning plenty of power piled on top of German refinement. The car will come with either a 3.5-liter V6 engine that produces 300 horsepower, a 4.8-liter V8 that serves up 405 horsepower and a king-of the hill twin-turbo V8 with 530 ponies. The car is no light weight, with the base V6 model hitting the scales at just under 4,000 lbs. Porsche will also offer a hybrid version of the V6 car with a 110 horsepower electric motor under the hood as well. The base car will come as a rear-wheel driver, but customers with more dough can get all four wheels to kick. Speaking of dough, the Panamera is Porsche through and through when it comes to price tag. The V6 car starts at $127,000. Don’t even ask about the turbo eight. And, maybe I’m just tired, but the above image is actually handsome. Hmmm…
