Those lovable ex-pats over at World Car Fans are reporting that the SSC is working on an all-electric version of the world’s fastest production car, the USDA Choice Ultimate Aero TT. The new car will be called the Ultimate Aero EV (Electric vehicle, get it?) and will feature two 500 hp electric motors that will collectively place the EV within spitting distance of the 1,183 hp twin-turbo TT’s performance. You can bet your right arm that SSC will go for an electric car world record attempt as soon as their green supercar is ready, probably around the beginning of 2009. One thing is troubling us, however — SSC is claming that the Ultimate Aero TT “will not require a charge for six years.” Obviously that’s a typo or a misunderstanding, a mistranslation — something. We’ve contacted SSC’s Junus Khan (is that the best name in the business or what?) for clarification. Either way, should the the 1,000 hp SSC EV happen, it’s going to make the Tesla Roadster look like a plain old Miata. This whole “Green” thing is really starting to get interesting, no?
