The Corvette has long been the every man’s supercar. Capable of spanking the backside of cars costing twice as much, it’s not hard to respect the Corvette, even if you’re not a Bow Tie fan. Still, part of the impetus behind buying super-quick metal is the exclusivity that comes with it. More of the “Yes, I could drink Folgers, but I can afford to suck down Starbucks by the gallon” syndrome. Check out Thorstein Veblen’s The Theory of the Leisure Class for more on that. Fortunately, Specter Werkes/Sports has the cure for the common ‘Vette with their new C6 GTR. Available for any and all C6s out there, the kit offers a carbon-fiber wide-body kit that stretches the car’s already expansive track by 4 ½ inches. In fact, every panel on the car is removed and replaced with GTR pieces, except for the roof. The power department is handled by a stroker 6.2-liter LS3 with ported heads, increased compression a special cam. The result is an emissions-legal 545 horsepower and nearly as much torque (530 lb-ft). Of course, if you want one, it’ll cost you another $35k over the cost of your (cheap) Corvette. [Autoblog]
