Still making this up as we go along–this time COTW is Car Of The Weekend since we’re only getting the GT-R for four days over the weekend. Finally I got my grubby mitts on a GT-R. (Thanks, Darryll!) Kind of sucks a little though as I’ll be on the floor at the X Games Rally on Sunday and the car will be sitting in the lot, but don’t worry, you’ll probably spot me prowling the Malibu canyons in the next couple of days if you’re in the hood. First impressions: AWESOME–as in awesome power. I haven’t driven ANYTHING that accelerates like the GT-R and in reality on paper there’s only about three production cars that are quicker under 100mph. They say that if you put a toddler in a dark room he/she will cry. If you subject a toddler to acceleration then he/she will laugh. I threw the kids in the GT-R for a dinner run this evening. My four year old daughter, Sasha burst out laughing when I dipped into the throttle, then admonished me for driving so fast with a four year old not in a car seat. My six year old (also daughter) yelled “Dad, that’s the awesomest press car ever” when I pulled into the driveway. Bar my still current all-time fave Audi R8 (my X Games car last year) I’m not inclined to disagree so far. Oh and the handsome devil with the beard–that’s Uncle Jon.
