Every once in a while we come across something that just plain makes us feel inadequate and lacking focus. Sure it takes a lot of discipline to sit at a desk all day tapping away at the keys delivering witty anecdotes and clever metaphors to our loyal readers, but the clear vision and single minded passion that comes cross in British artist, Chris Gilmour’s work is astounding and takes the term “Art Car” to new levels. Plus he recycles! If he hadn’t chosen a couple of cars and bikes as subjects he might not have popped up on our radar, but he did (Thanks, Rob!). Chris chose a couple of cars craved by Autofiends too—an OG Fiat Cinquecento and Mr Connery’s legendary, ejector seat equipped Aston Martin DB5, both recreated down to the finest detail in cardboard and glue. In full scale! I lose concentration dropping the third scoop of Folgers into the coffee machine so can’t even comprehend how Chris does it. Absolutely amazing. Gilmour doesn’t stop with Bond’s Aston. He also builds bicycles with detail down to the derailleur and chain link and a Harley powered trike. In full scale! From recycled cardboard and glue! Hit the jump for a couple more galleries of Mr Gilmour’s art including the Fiat and trike, and a link to his site. Definitely would take the Aston over an old Lamborghini as art in our bachelor pad.
