It’s called the McRae Gathering 2008 and it works like this. Colin’s father will be driving his son’s infamous 555 Impreza (world champ in 1996) down from Scotland to the ProDrive factory in Banbury in Southern England. Along the way, an estimated 700 Subarus will join him. The next morning, in addition to hot breakfast rolls and tea, participants will be able to drive to the ProDrive test facility where a total of 1300 Subarus (and maybe more) will attempt to spell out Colin’s name and a Scottish Saltire (flag). The Guiness Book of World Records will be there to see how they do. Registration’s already closed, but if you showed up at the ProDrive facility to help with out, we’re doubting you’d be turned away. But you’d better be in a Subaru, as no other cars are welcome. The action starts this Saturday, August 30. How much better is this than the Olympics? [McRae Gathering via Autoblog]
