Love or loathe the Bow Tie battle horse, there’s something undeniably Fiendish about the 1966 Stingray. The lunging nose, the teardrop back glass and the knowledge that the pushrod terror gave European metal a run for its money on home turf during more than one hard-fought race. It’s the stuff of legends. Rossi has managed to morph a C6 ‘Vette into the modern image of the classic Stingray, and the project should be unveiled at this year’s SEMA in November. Three door coupes and convertibles will eventually be offered. The downer is you’re expected to supply the car for cannibalization. On the shiny side, Rossi will offer a competition version that should compete in the GT2 class. We know GM would never go for ditching the super-slick body of the current Corvette for this car’s pointed nose (something about generating lift at high speed), but wouldn’t it be bitchin’ if the next bad ass Chevy paid homage to the ‘Ray?
