cube The EV Wars Are On: Nissan Cube EV 02

It’s true, most EV’s aren’t exactly Fiendish, but there’s something undeniably cool about guilt-free driving of any kind. Besides, they’re kind of like the biggest RC cars on the planet. Nissan made some waves earlier this week when they pulled the covers off of their EV-02 Cube proto. A retrofitted version of the JDM Cube, the car is powered by next-generation lithium-ion batteries, and Nissan execs are hoping for a 150 mile range by 2010. That’s right around the corner in car terms. While a Cube-based EV is slated for Japanese sales, Nissan says an American version would be significantly different, at least on the outside. The vehicle will be released for some fleet service by 2010, with retail sales rolling down the line just two years later in 2012. [Pop Mech]
