Looks like even GM’s white knight is susceptible to the automotive slowdown. The General just announced that it will stop ‘Vette production for a whole week to help supply meet demand. That’s not all. The Corvette plant in Bowling Green, Kentucky is facing layoffs and will slow vehicle production from almost 19 per day to just 15. This is the first time Chevy has stopped production of its sports car in close to 30 years. Don’t expect this to be the last of the production halts, especially as fuel prices continue to climb and buyers put more cash in their tank and less in their savings account.
