Mitsubishi just announced that it plans to partner with New Zealand’s Meridian Power to show the i MiEV electric vehicle down under. You may remember my ragging on the copious shortcomings of electric vehicles, one of which was how countries go about generating energy. Meridian generates its power through 100 percent renewable methods, including hydroelectric and wind. The partnership between the two companies is expected to be a precursor to a possible early introduction of the 2010 i MiEV in the New Zealand market. With some seriously green Kiwi energy on its side, there are only a few more issues with the idea of an all electric to solve, and given enough time, we’re sure those will be buttoned up, too. Now all we need to do is completely rework our grid here in the states to mimic Meridian Power’s.
