zauber 2 Zauber ZR 1 Fit For Competition

Good news for everyone five mintes away from gray hair. German auto builders Zauber have created a seriously nasty track car just for the forty and up crowd. Branded the ZR-1 (not to be confused with the ZR1), this blaze orange beast boasts a 4 hp per pound power to weight ratio thanks to a 286 pony turbo 1.3-liter mill yanked from a moto and coupled to a six-speed tranny. The 1,145 lb open-cockpit car carries all the safety goodies you need to go head to head on track. That’s a good thing, too. Zauber has plans in place to create a one-make ZR-1 race just for racers 40-years-old and older. And they’re calling it, “Top40.” Cute, no? No word on how much this thing is going to cost, but according to the company, it should be affordable. Silly Zauber, don’t you know there’s no such thing as affordable racing? [MotorAuthority]
