saab 9 3 L.A. Auto Show: Special Edition Saab 9 3 Convertible

The Saab 9-3 Convertible has come a long, long way. Remember those mid-eighties drop tops with about 9 acres of rubber bumper real estate? Not exactly the most attractive ride out there. Compare that to the sleek 2009 9-3, and it’s hard to see how one grew out of the other. Saab’s cranking out a special edition version of the car for the L.A. Auto Show this year, complete special metallic paint, a 210 horsepower 4-cylinder and a six-speed automatic transmission, the car stays true to its “four seat, four season” convertible. There will also be a few carbon fiber accents inside the cockpit, dual exhaust out back and sizeable 17-inch wheels all the way around. The L.A. Auto Show starts in just one week, so stay tuned for Fiendish coverage. [Source: GM]

Is this same one they’re asking $47k (!!!!!!) for? If it is, then a person would have to be on crack, meth and be prone light up Sharpies for incense to even consider this.

If this is that same car it is emblematic of what is wrong with SAAD under GM. Why would a sane person spend THAT much money on this when even an all wheel drive Infiniti G would leave it twisting in the wind for $6 to 10 grand less.

Forgetting about dynamics for a moment, I think I may be justified in postulating that a modern Infiniti would also teach a SAAB a thing or three about build quality and interior accoutrements.

Reliability? Don’t go there. I know previous owners who believe SAAB is a four letter word.

This is a $30k-ish car at best.

[I really went off there didn't I? Sorry, mates.]
