When you’re talking cars, there are very few I like better than shooting-brakes. I’m not sure what it is, but two doors plus the hatch equals automotive nirvana in my admittedly warped mind. And so be it. Looks like BMW is thinking what I’m thinking vis-à-vis the next 1-Series. Before we go any further, we need to mention the OG BMW M Coupe, one of my absolute most favorite cars. While I like the new M Coupe just fine (Levy loves it), the Z4 based iteration just doesn’t have the je ne sais whoop ass of the shooting-brake version. And according to a report from the Motor Authority, BMW wants to bring sexy back. Er, at least bring back a two-door station wagon for enthusiasts like moi. Here’s the pertinent quote, “new information about the next-generation car has just been revealed by Klaus Draeger, BMW’s product development guru, indicating that a ’shooting brake’ two-door wagon/hatch variant may be in the works.” i would like you now to shut your eyes and imagine the 135i version of this car — with the 3.0-liter twin-turbo I-6 that everyone knows is totally underrated  in the HP-department. BMW says 300 hp. Everyone else says 300 hp at the wheels. And just imagine the mighty wheels — check out the room afforded by the fender flares on the spy shot. 20x 12 is not out of the question. Meaning that if they build it, the 135i shooting-brake goes on my wish list. [Source: Motor Authority]
