All hail the clown shoe! You may have guessed this was coming when you saw the news that BMW might be hard at work on a new shooting-brake. Before mods (and this particular car has some mods) the latter S54 B32 M Coupes made 315 hp and weighed just over 3,000 pounds. Hubba hubba. Full story here. I still dream of this car, nearly every night.

One of the most polarizing designs ever penned and I’m firmly on the side that loves it. Engineers were charged with adding a hardtop to the roadster for as little money as possible. It’s an adaptation without style added to a very stylized car and for some inexplicable reason I find it immensely appealing.
I love this car, always have, a rich man’s MGB GT. There’s a real F-you look to the car, a kind of yeah you hate and I know it and you can’t catch me! The Z3 was not a particularly good design (M variants not withstanding), compromised as it was by its humble 1-series city car platform. A problem rectified in the much better driving, but utterly hideous Z4.
The M Coupe was fast as hell too, though it had a real propensity to eat rear tires. The stock rear setup was tons of positive camber which resulted in great handling, but generated 911 levels of tire replacement. Can you say 8,000 miles and threads showing, ouch!
Z3 on city car platform? The Z3’s platform is derived from the E30 3-series. Solig 1980s technology.
Finally we come to an agreement with some thing! What are your current reactions on the M? BMW whored out M just like Mercedes did with AMG. Whatever transpired to making cars fast that were worth a damn? What person wants a 4500lb pig with 500 h . p .?
