v8d SEMA 2008: And Now Your V8s

The words “car” and “art” get mashed together quite often. I would argue far too often. See, one man’s ‘57 Chevy Bel Air is another’s Tatra T603. But who amongst us can deny the inherent beauty of a V8? You want art? I give you 16 transplendent valves and a fistfull of pushrods. In fact, all the aforementioned Tatra and Chevy really have in common is 8 cylinders nestled into a V configuration. And while the Tatra uses a Mopary air-cooled Hemi configuration (mounted in the trunk, of course), I’m going to go ahead and state my preference for the small-block. Aesthetically speaking, of course. In fact, art-wise I like GM’s 305/350 better than Ford’s 302 — and I even have the latter in my race car. The question comes down to which engine would you hang on your wall? The uneven exhaust headers seal the deal for me — it’s gotta be a small-block. Especially one like above with all the Edelbrock, Holley and Isky fixin’s.  Unless of course it’s a Jaguar 5.3-liter V12, which is a different post entirely. All pics were taken on the floor at SEMA — and yeah, some of the mills are Fords. Get over it and enjoy the gallery.

Almost ordered a set of those black finned Edelbrock valve covers for my father for Christmas. Then I realized they’re $200. Per cover…
