Or is that “Koncept?” Tee hee hee. Ahem. You’re looking at the Kia Koup. Designed in Irvine at the Kia Motors America Design Center, this is the best looking Kia, well, ever. There’s about as many grains of sand on the beaches as there are occasions when us auto journos have witnessed a wikkid krazy kool concept koncept and collectively screamed, “BUILD IT!!!” Well kids, the coastline just got bigger. Underneath the attractive (and slighty Honda Civic-ish) exterior lies a 2.0-liter Theta II transverse GDI (gasoline direct injection) 4-banga good for 290 hp and 289 lb-ft of torque. And here’s the cake’s icing – no turbos. In fact, no forced injection of any type. NA, baby! The Koup takes gets all that power shot through its front wheels, but with modern diff and suspension technology that’s no guarenteed bad thing. Speaking of suspension, the Koup sports MacPherson Struts up front and independent dual links behind. Those pretty wheels are covered with serious meat — 245/40ZR19. Brembos and a paddles shifted six-speed automatic, too. Are they going to build it? Once again, we really, really double hope so.

At, what, 10,000rpms? Yeah, is direct injection, but still…
Hate to be the one to say it Jonny, but it’s turbocharged.
