Just getting this one through the grapevine. Apparently Travis Pastrana has injured himself sustaining a rumored broken hip and ankle—we don’t have full details on how. As a result he is unable to compete in this weekend’s Race Of Champions for Team USA at Wembley Stadium in London, UK. The Race Of Champions pits the world’s top drivers in identical cars (this year it’s KTM X-Bows) head to head both individually and in teams representing their respective countries. Competitiors for 2008 include champions from Formula One, WRC and Touring Car Racing such as Michael Schumacher, Marcus Gronholm, Sebastian Loeb and Jensen Button. NASCAR star Carl Edwards is Team USA’s other member for ’08. Travis Pastrana has competed for Team USA in ROC several times. Friend of Autofiends, Formula Drift Champ, and Top Gear USA host, Tanner Foust, is rumored as Travis’ replacement if another NASCAR driver doesn’t step up to the plate. We’re hoping there aren’t too many right turns if Tanner doesn’t make it in. And we wish a speedy recovery to Travis Pastrana.
