Say you want a Morgan — the classic and gorgeous British sports car. But you don’t want to spend the crazy money, and for all the Morgan’s charms, you don’t know if you can handle a car made at least a little bit of wood. While Morgans are great to drive, they still go like Morgans. So what if you could take a Mazda MX-5, one of the best driving roadsters in the world (save the Boxster), and make it look like the British sports cars it so dutifully emulated way back when? That’s what Mitsuoka has done with the Himiko. The company famous for taking Japanese cars and making them look old school and English (see the Mitsuoka Galue) has done perhaps its best work ever here. I’ll say this much for the Japanese car market: while imports are prohibitively expensive, between Kei cars and crazy conversions like this, I’d be just fine. [Source: Mitsuoka]

Since the MX-5 was a homage to the Lotus Elan why should’nt Mitsuoka make a homage to the Morgan, makes sense to me.
This give you the essense of classic English roadster without the pain of actually having to live with one.
Build it for about $35k and you’d see it sell well enough.
