Porsche 997 GT3 RS 2.0

Oh Snap: Updated Porsche 911 GT3 RS Spotted

You know what’s hard to get journalistically excited about? More iterations of the 997. I mean, wasn’t the current GT3 RS released last Tuesday? And wasn’t it the most amazing, da-bombtastical road going machine ever conceived of by (German) man? Why is Porsche replacing it so soon? What’s wrong with it? And didn’t Porsche just release new versions of the 911 Carrera, 911 Carrera S, 911 Cabriolet, 911 Cabriolet S, Carrera 4, Carrera 4S, Cabriolet 4S, Targa 4, Targa 4S, Turbo and Turbo Cabriolet? And why am I so grumpy? Oh yeah, I’ve decided to head back to the gym for 2009 and have already screwed by back up. Ahem. Right, so if you decide to get the new GT3 RS you’ll get LED running lights just like the new Turbo. Crazy RS specific badging, too. Sounds like the bonnet is now made fro carbon fiber (and by bonnet we mean hood) and the massive, adjustable rear wing which was already carbon fiber now has huge (i.e. bigger) end caps on the wings. Similar to a 1954 Pontiac Star Chief’s hood ornament. New crazy center-lock hub wheels and the same old roll cage, of course. According to what’s been blogged about, while weight is down, so’s the 0-60 time. Huh? Well, think about it: 0-100 km/h of 4.2 seconds is slower than the current car’s 0-100 km/h in 4 flat. Also, the end caps on the wing don’t actually look much bigger. What gives? Don’t believe everything you read. [Source: Wheels 24 via Autoblog]
