Rumor Mongering: Actually, Japan’s Not Doing So Hot

Acura Legend Coupe

Whoops! You know how we just told you that despite the Great Depression 2.0, Japan is on track to deliver all sorts of mack daddy cars to our shores? We told you that because Pete Lyon over at Inside Line made us broke the news. Well guess what? The same Pete Lyon is now saying that Japan will be canceling all sorts of fun cars because their auto industry is, “reeling.” D’oh! Oddly, neither Inside Line article mentions the other… Anyhow, that’s why we call it called Rumor Mongering. So what’s up? Well, we already know that Acura’s (probably) scrapping its plans for a V8. Not really a huge bummer, as Acura doesn’t really need a V8, even if they do bring back the name Legend. But there is some actual sad news. Looks like the upcoming Toyota-Subaru joint RWD sports car collaboration has been pushed back from 2011 to 2012, if not cancelled entirely. Boo. Also bad — especially for the driftos amongst you — the Nissan 200SX/Silvia replacement ain’t happening. Again, all this according to an unnamed source. [Source: Inside Line]
