cr z CR Z By 2010

Honda may have developed a habit of scrapping anything with even a hint of testosterone, but there is a silver lining in the storm. The company just cranked out its 300,000th hybrid since it started producing the battery rides since 1999. Usually, hybrids are about as fiendish as a dirty sock, but this is where things get interesting. I’ve been fawning over the successor to the CRX throne, the CR-Z hybrid since Honda debuted the green concept in 2007. Now the company is saying the world’s first affordable green sports car will be ready for distribution as soon as 2010. That’s next year for those of you who could care less. Rumors swirled an Type R version of the green machine may pop up sometime after that, complete with a straight petrol engine. We’re guessing something in the K-series range, complete with VTEC goodness might be just the ticket. Even if the gas motor never pops up stateside, our guess is it wouldn’t take too much to rip the battery guts out of the car and replace it with a more robust gasoline mill. Hey, it’s been done with the original Insight. Why not? [Source: AutoblogGreen]
