I’ve been hooked on vintage race footage ever since stumbling across clips of the 1958 Alpine Rally Cup on IEDEI. The quick video after the jump is an introduction to the Targa Florio – a 45 mile circuit through the mountains of Sicily started in 1906. Our generous host is none other than Quick Vic Elford (who took the gold in 1968) and the time is 1973 just before the last race as part of the World Championship. Elford lets us ride shotgun in his Porsche 908/3as he reads off a section of the course. The best part? Hearing Elford spill on all of his brushes with local drivers. Fiendish indeed.
