Could it be? Dare we hope? According to an interview with Automotive News, FoMoCo suit Herman Salenbauch – responsible for future product R&D – says the company is considering bringing the 305-pony Focus RS stateside for the 2011 product update. Considering the Blue Oval’s push to have an Ecoboost option available for every model in its line up, it wouldn’t surprise us to see a turbo, direct-injection four under the former-hatches’ hood. Odds are our version would follow in the current, Euro RS’s footsteps and be a front-driver only. Still, 300 horses in a tiny car is a good recipe for putting those pesky muscle cars in their place. Salenbauch says the decision is dependent on the kind of support the press and public generate between now and then. Ford, if you’re listening, I want one. Now. [Source: MotorAuthority]

Is the RS FWD?
The newest gen is. The engineers use a pretty slick LSD and the car’s considerable turbo lag to keep it in check.
The last gen was an all-driver.
Please let it be true!
I’ll Continue to use my SVT Focus as a DD and the RS for the weekends only!
Way, way overdue perhaps the SVT will be traded in for a Mopar-like Sassagrass or Sublime green. I have been on the UK site and the car (and the site) is the bomb!
