True: GM Says Goodbye to Pontiac

Its official, Fiends. The good General is set to send the ailing Pontiac packing by 2010. The company announced the news as part of a viability plan this morning, saying it would focus on four core brands, including GMC, Buick, Cadillac and Chevrolet and ditching the rest. That leaves Pontaic, Saab, Saturn and Hummer to be “resolved” by the end of this year. While that likely means sale for Saab, Saturn and Hummer, poor Pontiac’s getting the outright axe. Ouch. While we mourn the loss of yet another great American brand, the company that brought us legends like the GTO had become a shadow of its former glory in recent years. We will miss the G8 GXP, though.
