If news Ariel is considering an all-electric version of its hoonmobile, the Atom, has you worried about the future of good fun behind the wheel, don’t worry. While the company is set to save the planet with electric power in the near future, for now it’s staying true to honest hot rod tricks – like plopping a 500 horsepower V8 into its infamous lightweight. Now we’re talking. The company says initial testing has put the car in the 2.5-second range for the 0-60 dash. The mill is a masterpiece of engineering, displacing just 3.0-liters and revving to a beautiful 10,000 rpm. Needless to say, the Atom’s big bad brother comes with traction control and a suite of electronic wizardry to keep the car between the ditches and shiny side up. Want one? Stupid question, we know. Ariel is only building 25 of these suckers, and half of ‘em are spoken for already. [Source: MotorAuthority]

The Atom is still probably the sweetest car out there. When it comes to form following function, you just can’t beat the Atom.
I think it’s a good thing they’re only going to make 25 of them. That means that we won’t end up getting a second-seat mill in the ones Stateside like they did with the original.
Now that is some car, but where would one drive it, I would think that it would only be one a race track and its amazing that they are only making 25 and out of those most of them have already been taken.
The Ariel Atom is a legendary motor car, and as Jeremy Clarkson from Top Gear’s face distorted from the accelleration from this little beast, 1000’s of TV viewers hgad their first encounter with this elusive beast.
Now the version Jeremy drove had something like 300hp from a supercharged Honda motor, so I can just imagine how awesome this 500hp V8 is going to prove to be. It is very expensive compared to a regular Atom, but the exclusivity you get is something else, way above any pricetag!
