Spec. B, if I were choosing. While Subaru is largely regarded as the granola-eating alternative to Japanese family-haulers out there, occasionally the company gets a wild hair and rolls out gems like the WRX STI, or this sucker. See, before Subaru decided all wagons were Outbacks and sedans were Legacies, there was the Legacy 2.5 GT Wagon. In this case, the important part is that 2.5, indicative of the same 2.5-liter turbo four-pot found in the previoiusly mentioned STI. While the mill only churned out 243 horsepower in Legacy trim, it was mated to a sweet sixfive-speed [Thanks, Brock Landers!] manual gear box and Subaru’s legendary all-wheel drive system, all for cheap cheap. Need I ask for more?

Be still, my beating heart …
Yeah, you could ask for a decent used one for under $15 grand. I tried to buy one last summer–talk about a cult car. Got into a regular 5-speed Legacy wagon instead.
They sold them in Canada later than the US, at least 2006. Still on sale in Japan

How is it anything with “Touring” in the name is instantly sexy?
So sharp.
Tragic that they had to go with the lift-kit-only road.
Of course, the low-slung MT-equipped wagon probably represents a 1% take rate.
One could always put some Legacy struts and springs on an Outback…
What a pleasant surprise to see this as the the POTD: I’m up in Canada and am lucky to have just picked up a 2006 black/black Legacy GT manual limited wagon last week. 40k miles, $23k Cdn. I love this car.
one more thing: FYI the North American Legacy GT wagon never had a 6-speed – only a 5-speed.
This is my ride – same color!
134,000 miles and still kicks ***
I love the way this car looks, sounds and attracts the youth and spped demon inside me. I own a 97 Legacy wagon 5speed MT and i recently rolled over 331k! My car is still ticking like new. Greatest car I’ve ever owned.
