Paddy Hopkirk and Rauno Aaltonen Take on the Rally Monte Carlo

Every now and then a video comes along that’s just too damn good. While Citroen’s tribute to itself was addictive as could be and watching the ZR1 dart around Green Hell was a great way to blow seven minutes, both pale in comparison to watching Mini rally gods Paddy Hopkirk and Rauno Aaltonen hoon a new convertible John Cooper Works around the switchbacks of the Rally Monte Carlo. See, Hopkirk took on the Bathurst 500 in an OG Mini way back when and Aaltonen snatched the gold at Monte Carlo in ’67. If anyone knows what makes a Mini a winner, it’s these guys. “We had certainly many memorable moments because if you don’t have them then you are too slow.” Amen, brother. [Source: Autoblog]
