Few things piss me off quicker than having someone pass me on the right while there’s an open lane on my left. As someone who spent quite a bit of my vagrant youth tearing ass through the hills, dales and interestates of Virginia, I know exactly what can happen when you sneak up on someone on the right. Since most interstate exits are on the right-hand side, traffic is more likely to back up in the right line. Just as bad, inattentive drivers are more likely to move to the right without checking their blind spots or mirrors. In short, it’s a good way to wind up with some wrinkled sheet metal. Well, first I want to say I’m with you on passing on the right but sometimes people leave you no choice. If there is little to no traffic and you have two morons pacing each other in the 1 and 2 lanes, go for it.
Having said that I would say that if the left lane had been free, then he got what he deserved, but there was a damn box truck camping in the left lane. I hate it when jokers driving trucks do this(individuals piloting dump trucks seem to specialize in this sort behavior).
However, looking at how dense traffic was anyway he should have known that there just wasn’t any room to have fun. It was a dumb move.
