Audi recently announced plans to expand their diesel engine lineup in the United States, but Audi of America President Scott Keogh has just confirmed the next-generation A4
will get a TDI engine as well.
Speaking to Automotive News, Keogh said the company had considered offering a diesel engine in the A4 earlier but “this deep in its life cycle, it didn’t make any sense to do all that dramatic re-engineering and re-architecting of the car
to basically only have a two-year selling period.”
Regardless, the executive confirmed the 2014 model will be offered with a 2.0-liter TDI engine that could develop 184 HP (135 kW) and 380 Nm (280 lb-ft) of torque.
