rev1 Lamborghini Gets Ready for New V12 Hypercar

As my bio states, I’ve had a poster of a Countach on my wall since I was a kid. Still do. Why? Because the Countach is the most bonkers, bat guano car of all time. Put more intelligently, despite it’s shortcomings (tractor clutch) the Countach is a near-perfect distillation of the Lamborghini brand. Mad, untamed, wild and quite uncouth. Ferrari has owner’s clubs. Lamborghini owners have outstanding warrants. That said, the Murcielago is a very close approximation of the Countach’s wonderful nuttiness. Maybe it was a bit to conservative at first, but the refreshed LP640 edition cured that. And the F22 Raptor-ish Reventon removed any and all doubts. Which is why Lamborghini is looking to their super limited-edition hypercar for the next V12 bull.

VW design boss Walter De silva has indicated that the next V12 Lambo will be largely inspired by the Reventon. The creased, aviation inspired edges will be priorities, as will massive power and sound. Because of course that’s what makes Lamborghinis special. The major shift will be massively reduced weight, likely to come from liberal use of carbon fiber — like the Reventon. This is quite similar then to the 600 hp V10 2,200 pound Ferrari Millechile you saw earlier. Unlike the Enzo successor, the new V12 Lamborghini will not be getting a dual-clutch tranny. As De silva puts it, they’re already number one in the zero to sixty realm — how much faster do they need to go? Pointy noses and e-gear for all, huzzah!
