lmoo2a Is Tesla Working On An SUV?

Looks like it. According to Jalopnik’s Andrew Stoy (and he’s quoting the UK’s Autocar) the Bay Area-based electric carmaker is going to build an SUV off the upcoming Model S platform. Just to refresh you, the Model S is to be a four door electric car that they had initially called WhiteStar. Like the Model S the Model X (or whatever they call it) will feature an aluminum shell, as opposed to the Roadster’s carbon fiber one. A flatter (smaller?) battery pack, too. We think it’d be cool if Tesla opted to make their new SUV more a Jeep Wrangler and less a Lexus R300, but if they’re building it off the sedan platform… Yeah, not so hard core. When will we see this SUV? Around 2015. The Model S should hit showrooms around 2010. Why the five year gap? Dunno. Why the picture of the LM002? Why not? [Autocar.uk via Jalopnik]
