At a rain soaked Monza, Scuderia Toro Rosso’s Sebastian Vettel upset the order of all things Formula One by qualifying first for Sunday’s Italian Grand Prix. Vettel also set the record as F1’s youngest ever pole sitter. More of an upset though was that Drivers’ Championship leader, Lewis Hamilton, didn’t make it into the third qualifying session for the first time in his F1 career and starts fifteenth on the grid two places behind Kimi Raikkonen. Felipe Massa ended up with sixth spot after barely squeaking into Q3 but wasn’t able to get to the front of the grid, which could have given him a leg up to take the championship lead. Hamilton’s Mclaren teammate, Heikki Kovalainen qualified second, Aussie Mark Weber for Red Bull in third and Sebastien Bourdais with Toro Rosso placed fourth.
