Lewis Hamilton took his Mclaren Mercedes to pole position in qualifying for the Chinese Formula One Grand Prix from Shanghai. Kimi Raikkonen will be parking his Ferrari next to him on the front row of the grid and Hamilton’s main competition for the Drivers’ Championship, Felipe Massa qualified third. Fernando Alonso, who won the last two Grand Prix sits next to Massa. Earlier in the weekend Alonso had caused a stir with his driver’s meeting comment that he’d do all he can to help Massa defeat Hamilton for the championship. He backpedaled later claiming (believably) that the comment was more aimed at the Mclaren team versus Ferrari rather than a personal knock on Hamilton. More at [Formula1.com]
