camaro-evs Video: 2JZ-Powered 1969 Chevrolet Camaro

Blasphemy or badassery? You decide, but the guys at EVS Motors have managed to take a massaged 2JZ-GTE — the twin-turbo 3-liter DOHC inline-6 of Toyota Supra fame — and stuff it into a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro. These kinds of swaps are all the rage in the South Pacific, where the motors are cheap. Seriously, you can find them in everything from RX-7s to Hi-Luxs and with just a few extra pounds of boost your Mom’s old Cressida suddenly has 500 hp at the wheels. For those of you unfamiliar with Bow Tie history, the first gen Camaro is the Camaro for most Chevy fan boys and the one designers of the 2010 model have relied so heavily on. This isn’t some backwoods hack job, either. EVS broke the Supra mill down and blueprinted it, complete with stage 2 cams and Brian Crower valve springs and retainers. All that massaging bumped the redline up to 8,500 rpm. After cranking the boost up to an unhealthy 37 psi, the guys managed a 661 hp pull at the wheels on pump gas. Damn. We think even the most die hard of the GM loyal can respect numbers like that. Hey — at least it wasn’t a 302. Jump for a look at the video. [Source: StreetFire]

I thought this was just a “Fast and the Furious” wet dream. I didn’t realize that this had any anchor in reality.

Or maybe I just hoped it didn’t.

Looks a hell of a lot like a ‘67 (the only year for vent windows) to my eye.

    Just sayin’…
