No sooner had we pondered the birth of two small crossovers, then Volvo announced its product for the projected-to-be hot segment. According to the company, the XC60 is supposed to somehow combine the “versatility” of an SUV with the sportiness of a coupe. Which is BMW style hyperbole why this rig has four doors. Who knows how capable this thing is (our bet — not very), but it should be plenty fun. The XC60 will be available with a turbo six pot that puts out 285 horsepower. Combined with all-wheel drive, this thing should be a blast to romp around in. Not a bad way to haul the kids to soccer practice, either. The XC60 goes on sale early 2009. No word on price yet. Or the diesel version we saw a while back. [Source: Volvo]
