Every now and then a video comes along that’s just too damn good. While Citroen’s tribute to itself was addictive as could be and watching the ZR1 dart around Green Hell was a great way to blow seven minutes, both pale in comparison to watching Mini rally gods Paddy Hopkirk and Rauno Aaltonen hoon a [...]

Today marks the 50th anniversary of the very first Austin Mini, and while BMW is rolling out a few funky aberrations of the light-weight bruiser to celebrate, we thought we’d take a look back. After the jump you’ll find a video of Mini designer Alec Issigonis. See, Issigonis was nearly entirely responsible for the design [...]

Well, well. Looks like MINI may be in for a surprise for its 50th birthday this year. Citroen just unveiled the delicious DS3, and the car looks like it’s got the goods to succeed in knocking the Cooper from its adorably functional throne. Styling has been kept pretty close to the DS Inside concept we [...]

This one just might take the cake as the best Fools Gold we’ve come across so far. It’s a total of five Minis and a Morris Mini truck ranging from 1959 to 1966 – all of which spent the majority of their days in sunny Southern Texas. That means minimal cancer, which is temptation enough [...]

I. Mercedes-Benz is readying a new Gullwing for this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show. It’ll be ready for delivery sometime in mid-2010, with a base price around $250k. Dubbed the SLS, the new Merc retains the long hood and rounded rear proportions of the original 300 SL Gullwing. [Source: Autoweek]

MINI claims the car manages to mix up the driving prowess of the Works MINI with the topless bliss of the Convertible. That means the same turbo 1.6-liter four-pot as the [...]

My buddy (let’s just call him Mayor) sent me a link to a blog by a friend of his about said friend’s car. The car in question is a 1973 Austin Mini named Miles. While sometimes only peripherally about Miles (the author takes beaucoup pics of of girl), the blog is littered with much better [...]

Thanks to retrogeezer for the pic.

I hope I’m not being totally contrary. I understand lots of people simply love their new Minis. And that for BMW it was build the Mini or get mired in CAFE standards hell. But… just look at the old Mini. You looking? Nifty, ain’t it?

In the interest of frankness, I’m not a fan of the new Mini. First of all, the first BMW-backed Mini was too big. I heart small (in this case). Then they went and launched a new new Mini and it’s even bigger. Then came the Mini Clubman, and well, not a fan. But I will [...]
