You may remember our pondering over the refreshed small Bimmer we spotted in the desert. Well, BMW has let the Bavarian cat out of the bag on its newest 3 series mere days after we learned of the new 7-Series. Along with an exterior update, the company says the 2009 3-Series will be available with a total of 10 different engine varieties — five gas and five diesel — with power up to 306 horses in the petrol inline-six 335i (which means more like 356 hp). The company is focusing on ever more stringent EU greenhouse gas emissions standards, and the newest 3-Series is their most efficient ever. BMW has incorporated everything from optimized shift points to brake energy regeneration to produce the best mileage and the least CO2 possible. The car has been worked right down to its turbo in diesel models in an attempt to squeeze as much efficiency as possible out of the motors. There are nearly as many gear boxes to choose from with the latest generation, including a 7-speed dual-clutch variation for the 335i.

gorgeous as well as eco-friendly. very good job BMW.
