Never thought you’d read that headline, did you? But there it is and it’s very true. Everyone knows by now that you can get the Hyundai Genesis sedan with a sweet 375 hp V8. However, you can also get the big 4-door with a 290 3.8-liter Lambda V6. The same engine in fact that will find it’s way under the hood of the Genesis Coupe. Er, at least that’s what we all assumed. And we assumed wrong. Turns out that the Coupe is getting an “RS” version of the V6. And the “RS” stands for “Rear-wheel drive Sports.” Moreover, instead of 290 hp, it’s going to produce 310 hp. 266 lb-ft of torque, too. What about the new Camaro? Well, the V6 will produce 300 horses and 273 torques. Sure, the LS3-engined SS Camaro makes 422 hp from it’s ‘Vette sourced V8, but we’re talking V6s here. We know that the entry level Challenger only makes 250 ponies, and the new V6 ‘Stang should be about the same. The new Nissan 370Z is jumping to the 3.7-liter engine (with 333 hp) not a moment too soon. But the Hyundai comes with Brembos. Standard. Look for “track” editions to feature lower suspension and all sorts of braces. Who says the muscle car is dead (again)?
