Alright, so I know you’ve probably had more Fiesta than any one human should be submitted to, but good Rhys Millen has dropped a video of his record-breaking two wheel-drive Pikes Peak run on the interwebs. The flick is dripping with cinematic ooo-gooeyness, complete with sunrise sideways action. The question is, how does it stack up against Gronholm and his 800-horsepower hot hatch video? As much as I’d love to side with the Finnish rally legend and his wicked Blue Oval, I’ve got to say Millen puts together a better video. You’ll have to hop the jump to figure which flick gets you going the best. One final note: while Millen crossed the line with his rear tires showing their belts, Gronholm’s were on fire. On. Fire.

Not only was Rhys’ video better, without a doubt because of Will Roegge’s directing, editing, and inventive camera angles, but Rhys was in his Formula D car, doing a hill climb AND drifting every corner.
Is that the same car as his Formula D car? I thought he might have one for Formula D and a different one for the Hill Climb stuff, but I can’t find any information either way. Still, epic video, awesome win, phenomenal car. I need to buy a Genesis Coupe…
Word is, it’s the same car. I don’t know exactly how much set up the team had to do to get the car square for Pikes Peak, but they trailered the car straight from Las Vegas to the climb for the event. It says volumes about both Millen and his team’s skill.
They all drift, even Mario Andretti back in the 60’s when he won the race, at Pikes Peak. It’s the fastest way up the mountain.
That was pretty badass.
